The Above-the-Line accounts in a narrative production budget are generally defined as the Story & Screenplay, Producers, Director, Cast and any of their related expenses. Everything else is Below-the-Line. One way to think about the distinction is that the Above-the-Line is WHY the movie gets made and the Below-the-Line is HOW it gets made.
